As Africa Health Business marked ten years of bringing Africa’s health leaders together, this year’s Symposium examined how today’s financing decisions will shape tomorrow’s access to care.

Representing COWHA, Board Chair, Nyawira Njeru joined the plenary discussion on scaling quality healthcare across Africa, highlighting the need to integrate maternal health, family planning, cervical cancer screening, and other essential women’s health services into health financing and benefit package design from the outset. Participants also explored how existing healthcare touchpoints, community health workers, and digital innovations can expand access to preventive care throughout a woman’s life course.

COWHA used the platform to reinforce a core message: investing in women’s health is not only a health priority; it is fundamental to achieving universal health coverage and building resilient health systems across Africa.

Beyond the plenary, COWHA members and partners contributed across sessions on diagnostics, family planning, universal health coverage, sexual and reproductive health, maternal and newborn health, and women’s cancers, ensuring that women’s health remained central to broader conversations on health system strengthening.
