The regional meeting reinforced a growing continental consensus: Africa’s health future will increasingly depend on African-led solutions, stronger domestic financing, and greater accountability for implementation.

Several developments stood out, including the launch of the African Health Leadership and Management Committee by Africa CDC, progress on the Continental Immunisation Strategy 2030, and work on a Financing Alignment and Mutual Accountability Framework. For COWHA, the takeaway was direct: financing reform on its own is not enough. Systems have to be designed so that women and girls keep getting quality care as countries shift toward domestically funded models.
