The Coalition for Women’s Health in Africa (COWHA) convened a high-level roundtable on the sidelines of the Africa Health Business Symposium (AHBS) in Abuja, Nigeria.

Bringing together passionate leaders, policymakers, and advocates, the session sparked vibrant dialogue on 𝐬𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐢𝐧𝐧𝐨𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐟𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐒𝐞𝐱𝐮𝐚𝐥 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐑𝐞𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐑𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬 (𝐒𝐑𝐇𝐑).

The roundtable spotlighted powerful ideas and collective commitment as participants:
🔹 Highlighted effective 𝐃𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐜 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐜𝐞 𝐌𝐨𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐳𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 (𝐃𝐑𝐌) and strategic purchasing models that are improving SRH in low-resource African settings
🔹 Identified opportunities to integrate 𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫-𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐩𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐛𝐮𝐝𝐠𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 and SRH into Universal Health Coverage (UHC) packages
🔹 Assessed the feasibility and scalability of innovative financing models — from mobile money levies and sin taxes to health bonds and public-private partnerships (PPPs)
🔹 Facilitated meaningful, multi-stakeholder dialogue across governments, civil society, private sector, youth, and development partners
🔹 Produced 𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐩𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐜𝐲 𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 to drive equitable, sustainable SRH financing within national health reforms

From bold ideas to big smiles, the day reaffirmed one truth: 𝐈𝐧𝐯𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐢𝐧 𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐟𝐮𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐢𝐬 𝐢𝐧𝐯𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐢𝐧 𝐀𝐟𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐚’𝐬 𝐟𝐮𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞.
