Job Title: Energy Manager

Job Location: Warren, MI -

Travel: Yes, they will need travel to multiple GM facilities domestic and internationally as needed.

Duration: 1 year contract with extensions or opportunity to go perm

Pay Rate: $60-68/hour depending on years of experience

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Energy Management, Environmental Science, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in energy management, energy optimization, or building systems management within industrial or commercial settings.
  • Demonstrated experience in energy audits, energy savings initiatives, and working with building systems such as HVAC, compressed air, and boilers.
  • Familiarity with energy efficiency programs, utility rebate incentives, and experience supporting corporate sustainability programs.
  • Proficiency in Power BI , Tableau , or similar platforms for creating energy data dashboards and performance tracking tools.
  • Strong analytical skills, including energy modeling, cycle analysis, and statistical analysis.
  • Solid understanding of energy-consuming systems found in manufacturing facilities, including compressed air, HVAC systems, boilers, chillers, and cooling towers.
  • Global Experience: Ability to support energy management efforts across GM’s facilities in North America and South America, ensuring alignment with global energy strategies.

Job Overview:

Seeking an experienced Energy Manager to join our Energy Partnership & Services team, supporting our key client. This role will focus on providing expert energy management and optimization services to an OEMs global portfolio of manufacturing and commercial facilities. The successful candidate will serve as a key energy advisor, ensuring the efficient operation of building systems while supporting energy-related sustainability initiatives, specifically their 2025 energy goals . This position requires both hands-on expertise in energy management systems and proficiency in data analysis to help achieve its energy efficiency targets.

Key Responsibilities:

Energy Optimization & Audits:

  • Serve as the on-site energy expert for GM facilities, providing insights and support in optimizing energy usage across key systems such as HVAC, compressed air, lighting, steam, and cooling.
  • Conduct periodic energy audits and evaluations to identify energy-saving opportunities, ensuring alignment with GM’s 2025 energy efficiency goals.
  • Collaborate with GM's on-site energy managers to implement best practices in energy use, including areas like compressed air leak surveys, steam trap assessments, and HVAC system optimization.

Data Analysis & Reporting:

  • Analyze energy data across GM’s North and South American facilities, identifying trends and opportunities for energy savings.
  • Develop, manage, and maintain Power BI and Tableau dashboards to provide real-time visibility into energy metrics, performance trends, and progress towards energy efficiency targets.
  • Perform detailed energy modeling and cycle analysis to support the development of energy reduction strategies.

Energy Management Program Support:

  • Guide GM’s energy managers in leveraging energy efficiency incentives and utility rebate programs to fund energy-saving projects.
  • Provide technical support and subject-matter expertise to GM’s corporate team, assisting with energy certifications, energy management programs, and sustainability reporting.

Energy System Expertise:

  • Apply advanced knowledge of typical manufacturing and commercial building systems, such as compressed air systems, steam and hot water boilers, air-cooled and water-cooled chillers, furnaces, and cooling towers, to drive energy optimization.
  • Assess and optimize the performance of building systems to reduce energy consumption while maintaining operational efficiency and supporting GM’s sustainability objectives.

Cross-Functional Collaboration & Consultation:

  • Serve as the primary energy advisor to GM’s energy managers and corporate leadership, providing actionable insights and technical support for energy-related projects.
  • Work directly with GM's engineering teams, energy optimization leaders, and facility managers across multiple regions to ensure the successful implementation of energy-saving strategies.
  • Travel as needed to GM’s manufacturing plants and facilities to conduct energy assessments and ensure alignment with corporate energy goals.
